How to Clean Your Aircon

Although we cannot immediately respond to your cleaning requirements because of the constraints of the enhanced community quarantine, we have prepared an article that will guide you through the steps to clean your AC filters and help ensure your AC continues to efficiently cool you until the time when one of our professional service technicians can get to you.

What are the things you need to prepare?

1. Medium-sized basin

2. Soft Cloth

3. Vacuum

 

Carrier Window Type Air Conditioner DIY Cleaning

Always make sure that everything is safe. Turn off your Window Room Aircon using the remote or the knob and remove the plug from the power outlet.

Step 1: Press the metal casing

Step 2: Gently remove the front grille. If you have a top vent window unit, unscrew the front grille before removing it.

Step 3: For remote-control models, press the connector to disconnect the wiring.

Step 4: Pull the air filter out.

Step 5: Remove the special air filters, shake off the dust then set aside. This step is applicable for A/C units with special filters.

Step 6: Soak the main filter in the basin of water for five to ten minutes.

Step 7: Shake the main filter lightly to remove the excess water.

Step 8: Place the main air filter on top of a dry cloth and allow it to dry.

Step 9: While waiting for the main air filter to dry, clean the A/C unit’s fin with a vacuum cleaner. Ensure that the tip of the vacuum won’t touch the fins to prevent any damage. If you don’t have a vacuum at home, you may skip this step.

Step 10: Clean the aircon front grille using a soft dry cloth.

Step 11: Once the main air filter is dry, put the special filters back in the slots.

Step 12: Insert the filter back into the front grille.

Step 13: Plug the plastic connector gently. *For remote-control units only.

Step 14: Attach the front grille back on to the unit. If your aircon unit is top vent, please screw the front grille back carefully.

Step 15: Plug the unit back on to the power outlet and you’re all set!
